Alexander Girard La Fonda Del Sol Restaurant Matches in Rare Large Box 1960’s: $265.00
In 1960, notable Italian-American artist Alexander Girard brought to life La Fonda del Sol, a Latin-American-themed restaurant located on the ground floor of the Time & Life Building in New York City. Commissioned by innovative restaurateur Joseph Baum, Girard designed the opulent interior, evocative of a contemporary branded space, to transport guests to an imagined world through extraordinary decoration and attention to detail. The restaurant sadly closed after nearly a decade. This piece is extremely rare, being a matchbox instead of the standard matchbook, unused, and in near perfect vintage condition. Features sun face designs on both sides. Note the corresponding colors of the match heads. Your opportunity to own a rare and culturally significant piece of the early 1960’s awaits. Square design at about 2.5 inches.
