For Sale 2 1950's Japanese dolls. The doll in green, gold with red trim is a male Samaria or other rank of warrior holding a black lacquer sword, has a couple of small scratches around his chin--see photos as I try to show as much as possible the condition issues--I believe the scratches may be from the sword as it's close to his face. He has the most adorable (I have never my life said something like this) tiny open mouth with a hint of teeth and a little teeny tongue. His clothing is in wonderful condition with no fading, pilling or fraying--see photo-- his sword has a tiny chip--again, see photos--on the black lacquer. This doll is 5 IN. TALL X 7 IN. WIDE X 4 IN. DEEP
The Lady in Waiting or Court Lady has a removeable head, real human hair and is dressed in white and red. The white on the edges of the white puffy sleeves may be a tad darker and that is most likely due to dust and something I am not qualified to clean. Her face is in remarkable condition with cosmetic issues I can see. Please see all photos just to be sure. This doll is 4 IN. TALL X 3 IN. WIDE X 2 IN. DEEP
My aunt had these in a display case away from sunlight and other harsh indoor light. They come from smoke free home and have been in her large Japanese collection since the late 1950s as far as family consensus has it. She was avid collector of many antiques besides her Japanese collection and was a serious student of the history and legacy of her collections. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
