1903 American League Season Pass, PSA EX 5. We searched the sale archives and could not locate another American League pass like this beauty. Whoever possessed the offered pass was able to watch American League baseball in its first year of existence. Ban Johnson's facsimile signature is found on the lower right corner. The eight teams which comprised the A.L. are listed on the reverse. Encapsulated by PSA, EX 5. A beauty! Great condition. A ticket for the 1903 World Series sold for $175,000 in 2021.
Valid for 1903 season first year of major league baseball. Who ever attend these games are long gone , however no one could of imagined the year by year growth of the league, the traditions and the comparisions back to the first year and how 1903 sent the tone for going forward with the first world series which this pass is valid for.
Valid September 17, 1903 at Huntington Ave Base Ball grounds When the Boston Americans (Red Sox) top Cleveland 14-3,with a Jimmy Collins HR to win the American league pennant. What a year this was for Boston, Buck Freeman for Boston lead the league in HRS13 and RBI 104. Cy young Lead the league with 28 wins,7 shutouts and 341 inning pitched. HOFer Jimmy Collins was also on the team batting .296.
Game one of the first World Series ever was in Boston Huntington ave BaseBall grounds Cy Young struck out the first batter in WS history and Honus Wagner got the first RBI. Cy Young won two WS games.

6/25/1903 Ed Delahaty last game and hit #2579 he was hitting near 360. but died in mid season a mystery, found his body floating in a river as he disapeared from the team train in motion.

Season Passes unlike tickets have a year date meaning valid for every home game, unless the pass has exceptions. The hidden value in a pass is when research identifies important events by a player or team that happen during that season. Often many debuts, records happen throughout the year during every game to both home and visiting teams. The pass is issued and valid to the historical event but the significance is not stated on the pass but in the description of the pass or label if encapsulated by third-party identification like PSA or Beckett. Passes are issued for every sport by leagues and teams to the media, players and fans. Passes are scarce and often more attractive than a ticket.
Tickets, stubs and passes are memorabilia from an actual event and are not like cards mass produced. In sports collecting, tickets are a fans direct connection to the game. Tickets are something tangible after the game is a memory. Tickets that list the date are usually more valuable than a program which can be for a series of games. Tickets are scarce and limited to seats sold. A ticket that has historical content and eye appeal is a valuable item. Tickets can be mounted or displayed with photographs, autographs and text. Many collectors get tickets signed for example Carl Yastrzemski 3,000 hit ticket. Collectors want tickets that represent a theme: a team, a record breaking game , a players first or last game, minor leagues, All-Star or post season tickets. Grading companies PSA are grading and certifying tickets which adds to their value and popularity. Rare historical tickets can run $100-and up. General tickets should be under $30.
