This is a miniature, framed replication of Yokozuna Hokutoumi\'s championship portrait that was hung in the kokugikan to commemorate his fourth yusho championship, his second as a Yokozuna. A powerhouse during the 1980s, he would go on to win eight in total. This is from the 1989 January Basho. After missing three consecutive basho due to injury, he came back strong winning 14 straight bouts to finish 14-1 in the tournament. His only loss was on Day 15 to Ozeki (and future yokozuna) Asahifuji. That loss forced a playoff which the Yokozuna would go on to win by yoritaoshi.
