World War Two Commemorative Paragon 1941 with beaded gilt trim signed:

A 1941 commemorative plate by Paragon. This piece is hand-decorated with a vignette depicting St. George slaying the dragon. He is framed by the Latin motto of the British Royal Coat of Arms: Honi soit qui mal y pense, Dieu et mon droit (“Shame be to him who thinks evil of it, God and my right”). The rim is accented with alternating blue and pink acanthus leaves. Five reserves depict war machines and quotes from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Winston Churchill. The plate is signed to the well: “R. Johnson” and finished with beaded gilt trim. It is marked with the English coat of arms to the verso, indicating production by by royal appointment. It is inscribed: “Designed to commemorate the British Empire and her Allies Fight for Democracy and the Whole Future of Humanity, Produced during the war of Britain, 1941.
