Vintage KRONHEIM & OLDENBUSCH (K&O) 1925 "Angelus" Polychrome Bronze Plated Solid White Metal Bookends. Set Of 2.

Original Enamel is still on the clothes & cart. Some age appropriate related wear on the flat edge of the pair. Repousse images of two farmers bowing their heads in prayer in the fields as they hear the Church bells calling the faithful to prayer. Sometimes this pair is called "Angelus Call To Prayer" or " Thankful Harvest". I am using the nominclature of antique bookends.net.

Design crafted by artist J. Pickarski (signed on front right of each piece) is based on the Jean Francois Millet painting "The Angelus".

The bookends were produced by the K & O Metal Novelties Company of New York, NY, USA. They produced bookends with a trademark pattern Fleur De Lys design on the back with their Markers Mark centered under the design. They were in business from 1895-1939.

A lovely pair. If you love books, as I do, you can never have enough bookends and beautiful collectible bookends, almost a century old are a delight to use & pass-on to future book lovers.
