Vintage Japanese Wooden Ducks (Pair), Duck & Mallard; Hand-Painted & Stamped For Sale

For sale is one beautiful pair of vintage hand-carved hand-painted Japanese wooden ducks, complete with the maker's stamp on their undersides.

The pair includes one duck and one mallard, and the painting along their bodies and folded wings is a similar matching design of pond reeds with white blooms set against a sunrise/sunset gradient orange tone. The oranges used are not identical, but rather chosen to be complimentary to one another. Their faces of course sport differing colours, as do the lower portions of their bodies, to identify the mallard with his green head and dark brown body.

Both ducks measure approximately 8.0" from beak tip to tail tip, and roughly 3.5" tall at the top of their head.

They are carved from a lightweight wood, that is very light in color, similar to a species of pine. Both were sanded exceptionally smooth before painting and sealing.

** As these items are of a vintage quality, they do have some reasonable various signs of age and wear, mostly to their beaks and tails, but there are other small scratches, nicks, and other marks across the bodies. We've provided multiple close-ups of each individually, with various angles of all these marks - please review carefully. **

These ducks came to us from a third party who was uncertain about their history, as they belonged to a deceased family member. Our own research has turned up little with regards to the artist responsible, but there does seem to be known traditions, across several Asian cultures, to gift a newly married couple with a pair of handcrafted wooden ducks.
