This map opens to a generous20" x 28½" and waspublished by the Missouri State Highway Commission, Jefferson City, in1940.

There is good detail on old road alignments, includingU.S. Route 66, plus inset plans ofKansas City and St. Louis.

The map locates numerous landmarks and points of interest, includingthe Industrial Home for Negro Girls,the state's first lead mine, Mark Twain National Forest, birthplace ofGeneral Pershing,and the U.S. Hospital for Defective Delinquents.

On the reverse side there are colorphotos of scenes around the state, including Elephant Rock, Ste.Genevieve,Bagnell Dam, a tobacco warehouse, and an overhanging rock formationalong U.S.Route 71 in the Ozarks.

Condition: This map is in very good, lightly used condition, with nomarks or writing. It is printed on a heavily-inked semi-glossy paper that showsbreaks on some of the folds, and there's some minor loss along the upper edge,outside of the image area. A couple of the weaker folds have been reinforcedwith archival tape. Please see the scans and feel free to ask anyquestions.
