Very Rare, Early Antique OUTDOOR Carte de Visite Photo of Large Fancy Mansion in Scranton, Pennsylvania

DESCRIPTION: Particularly nice, original rare early antique outdoor Carte de Visite from my collection of early antique outside building photos. Early outside shots are always nice generally, and this one is particularly nice.

Identified in period hand written ink as "Sangwhar", probably the name of the mansion estate. Also identified as being taken by Schurch's Photographic Studio in Scranton, Pennsylvania on the reverse. Image style, content, and photographer information make this CdeV appear to be c.1860 -1870.

Carte de Visite photos were popular, both by military men and civilians. Carte de Visites were the most popular format during the war years, and including military and political leaders and other subjects in your CdV album was very popular. This was the best way to collect and display and honor them, not having the various other methods we have today.

THIS WAS CLEARLY A NICE SHOT OF A FANCY EARLY SCRANTON, PENNSYLVANIA MANSION ESTATE. Outside CdeVs are always especially desirable!!
