University Of Manchester Wood Shield Plaque, 1947, ARDUUS AD SOLEM.

Painted in oils on wood shield. Later examples have a plastic scroll on bottom but not this one which is painted in oil.

Has original dedication written on back 'To Jean from Margaret with love August 9th 1947' which dates this to around 1947.

Overall condition is good for age. Some of the cream background has flaked away from the shield but see photos.

Measures approximately 155 mm length.
