Sail Boat Greetings Antique Postcard. EMB. Silk for Sails. PUBL:Illustrated 1907

This is a nice GREETINGS postcard showing a SAIL BOAT skimming on the water, with a nice sunset view in the background. This is avery attractive and colorful postcard. The postcard is a NOVELTY postcard with the sails being made of light blue SILK. It is well made and it is in good condition, although it has a corner cut, and a corner crease (bottom right) where it was taped. This would have been sent for BEST WISHES and FRIENDSHIP. The postcard has the classic look of that era, and it is ANTIQUE from the early 1900s. This is a nicely drawn postcard with good detail, which makes it pleasing to look at. This is unique and possibly rare because not many postcards would have made this way because of the extra steps needed to create this.

The publisher of these postcards, Illustrated Postal Card (1904-14; New York, Berlin), was a major USA publisher of postcards and published in Germany (Leipzig, Saxony).Besides postcards, they also published fine art cards that were very popular. The company has a distinctive eagle trademark logo and is considered as one of the “most wanted publishers” by collectors. They produced many beautifully embossed, heavy embossed (with an extra sheet on the back), air brushed, and glitter postcards. They were one of the most respected publishing houses during the “Golden Age of Postcards” (1908-1915 era).

This is a very nice antique novelty postcard for the collector. This is truly a collector item, and would be good to put into a collection. Overall, a nice antique postcard at a reasonable price!

The postcard is UNPOSTED and it would have been published in the 1907 era.

This postcard has an UNDIVIDED BACK. This type of back was used on postcards from 1901-1907.An undivided back is a good indicator of the age of the postcard and its historical significance.During this time period, ONLY THE ADDRESS could be put on the back, and any writing message had to be done on the front. This is a collector item because of its age, and the limited number of such postcards in existence today. Also, collectors like to own a postcard that was published in the beginning years of the postcard hobby.

This is a BETTER POSTCARD and good for a collector. The postcard will keep its value! It is sleeved and in good condition. However, please expect some creases, cuts, stains, paper toning, and edge wear due to its age (over 100 years old!).The photos show the postcard and its back.

The postcard is shipped in a sturdy envelope. We only ship within the USA; we do not ship internationally. USA shipping is with tracking, and we use Standard Envelopemail when the value is under $20 and the weight is under 3 oz; and, we use USPS Ground Advantage when the value is over $20 or the weight is over 3 oz.Wecombine shippingwhenever possible. If you purchase multiple lots, you can wait and we will send you an invoice for the combined shipping before you pay. In case you have already paid for the lots, we will still combine the shipment and refund you any extra shipping charges back to your account.
