The \"Ten o\'clock and all\'s well\" call was a familiar sound from the Charlies, watchmen who originated during the reign of Charles II. Their service spanned nearly 200 years before being replaced by the modern police force in the 1800s.
Designed by Charles Noke, this jug was specially commissioned by The Higbee Company to celebrate the second anniversary of the first Royal Doulton Room in Cleveland, USA. Commissioned in 1985 and issued in 1986, this jug is number 208 in the limited edition of 250 pieces. It is a large character jug, standing 5 1/2 inches tall, and is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. The package includes the original box and a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.SA.
