Oh, the stories she could tell!

This is one of theearliest, circa 1770s, English, \"Queen Anne\" style, original carved wooden doll bodies (head and full torso, no arms or legs) with very worn gesso painted finish. Carved from one piece of elmor birch wood and originallycreated for wealthy families, she has the remains of heroriginal black painted hair, which would have been covered by a very high and fancily styled wig. The remnants of her jointed arms and legs can still be seen inside the sockets along with the wooden pegs. She might have had leather or cloth lower limbs. She has the fashionably styled long neck, carved ears and nose and eye socketswith remnants of her original white gesso décolletage and face paint. She even has a hint of her original lip paint! She has a long slender waist and would have probably worn a very wide silk skirted gown. She measures, 9 3/4\" long with an oval-shaped head and flat back and hips and has no repairs or repaint, no cracks or additions and has lived through several centuries. We think she deserves a special attention in a museum. Also, note that another collector advises us thatshe may be German, circa 1820s. We\'ll let you decideher lineage. Please note: nearly all of our items are antique or vintage (usually with some signs ofwear due to usage and previous storage).
