Rare Art Nouveau Max Dannhorn Porcelain Floral Tray Platter 19”x10” C-1900 For Sale

We are delighted to offer this rare porcelain tray that is secured within a lovely copper frame, by Max Dannhorn. The floral artistic decoration of the tray is encased in several layers of glaze and is quite lovely. The frame features an elegant art nouveau design that blends beautifully with its handles. Every shape has been meticulously embossed, giving them crisp, sharp edges. Four ball-feet on the underside of the metal frame prevent the porcelain from scratching. This unique tray is relatively large, measuring 19” diameter x 10” across. The underside of the porcelain is where you will find the hallmarks. With the exception of a nick on the porcelain and some areas of wear on the metal frame, this lovely serving tray remains in gently used antique condition overall.

The actual trade mark was seldom applied to their products. Most items produced by Max Dannhorn were 'combined' items, a wide array of serving trays and similar items. The trays were nearly always produced for Dannhorn by Villeroy & Boch from the town of Mettlach (Saar Basin). This Art Nouveau presentation dish by Max Dannhorn was manufactured c-1895-1921 in Germany.
