Rare 1969 Tudor Electric Football NFL-AFL Super Bowl III Game, Jets vs. Colts:
$139.50

This sale is for the stunning, historical and exceptionally rare Tudor NFL electric football Super Bowl III featuring the upstart New York Jets of the AFL vs. the powerhouse Baltimore Colts of the NFL. Played on Jan. 12, 1969, Super Bowl III was the third of the AFL-NFL Championship Games, but the first game to actually be called the Super Bowl. Take a look at this board -- the Lombardi Trophy in the middle of the field, the AFL in one endzone with the league's logo and the NFL in the other endzone with its logo. Incredible. The scoreboard, fully outfitted with the correct dials and Jets and Colts team names also features the two leagues' logos, as does the cover of the instruction book, which features the color inset pages of teams and Tudor electric football game models that we all studied and thoroughly memorized. This game's model number is 630-633. It was the first of the Tudor NFL Super Bowl games (the only one with both "AFL" and "NFL" and the Lombardi Trophy on the field) and was originally sold only through Sears. All of the original black-shoe players are complete, with no broken parts. Two white plastic quarterbacks/kickers are also included, along with the down and distance magnetic markers, clock parts, a felt strip of footballs and the minute clock wheel's felt pad, two goal posts, goal post pads, goal post lock knobs, field corner flags, scoreboard clips and white motor control knob. The player bases are not included, but you can easily find these or use your own preferred bases. The Super Bowl III game board is the same size as the traditional Tudor 620 "big board." The dimensions of the field are 35-1/2 inches by 18-1/2 inches. Some additional things to note. This game was not stored well when it came to me years ago (and believe me, I looked for years for this particular game). As a result, the box is in rough shape. The scoreboard also has some waviness to it, which could be corrected by laminating it to a bit heavier cardstock or thin luan or the like and mounting/displaying it off-field. The board also played very "loose" originally, so I used spray-in foam to tighten the board up (see picture seven). It now runs exceptionally smoothly and quietly. There is also a dent on the outside and inner rail of the NFL endzone portion of the game (see the last two pics). I've covered the inner dent with colored tape. The actual playing surface of the gameboard is in superb condition. This is just a stunning example of a bygone era in sports and games.Let me know if you have any questions. I'm beginning to liquidate my Tudor electric football collection, so watch for more neat stuff going forward. Thank you for looking.
