Original CDV, showing Simons Town, South Africa, photographed by Turner. Simon's Town played a part in the US Civil War, the Confederate Commerce Raider CSS Alabama used it as a base to raid US ships bringing in supplies from Singapore... other ships, US and CSA might have used the port there as well.
