A reprint of a scarce Marine Corps History, originals would cost many times the list price. Operation Beleaguer was a major United States militaryoperation led by Maj. Gen. Keller E. Rockey. He commanded 50,000 men of the IIIMarine Amphibious Corps that deployed to northeastern China's Hopeh andShantung Provinces between 1945 and 1949. The main objectives of the operationwere the repatriation of more than 600,000 Japanese and Koreans, who remainedin China after the end of World War II, and the protection of American livesand property. During the course of nearly four years, American forces engagedin several small battles with the Communists, and they were successful inrepatriating and evacuating thousands of foreign nationals. The United Statesgovernment also attempted to mediate a peace treaty with the opposingNationalist and Communist forces, but the effort was unsuccessful. This 8 1/2 x 11 staple bound book has 38 pages.
