He made his first space flight from December 18 to 26, 1973, together with flight engineer V.V. Lebedev on the Soyuz-13 spacecraft. The flight duration was 7 days 20 hours 55 minutes 35 seconds. Before the flight, Yu. Romanenko was the youngest (by date of birth) of those who flew into space.
