Made by Hubley Manufacturing Company of Lancaster , Pennsylvania
Designed by wildlife artist Fred Everett ( 1892 - 1957 )
Mold # 458
8 1/4" in height, 7 3/8" wide
Marked " 458 " on the back.
Marked " © Fred Everett " on the front ( hard to see, but just under the pheasant's tail ).
Fred Everett designed 3 doorstops for Hubley :
Geese ( mold # 457 ), Pheasant ( mold # 458 ), and Quail ( mold # 459 ).
Everett sculpted this pheasant doorstop with a realistic posture, the head cocked to the side and its eye looking up - as a real pheasant bird would do if it were on the ground and looking up.
Nearly 4 lbs in weight ( before packing ).
Note that this is an authentic Hubley doorstop ; it is not the much later knock-off imitation.
( a fake would be marked " CN " on the back )
No cracks. No breaks. Minor knick I believe out of top of birds ear
That this doorstop has not been repainted.
This is the original paint and surface.
