For owners of a tube model CG-2 or CG-3 tube model Cordovox accordion and a modern MIDI arranger module such as Orla, Solton, Ketron, Roland, or LImex. This microprocessor kit mounted in your existing grill port will enable you to play a real time arranger module so you can sound like a band that you can control!

You simply plug the adaptor box into your model CG-2 or CG-3 Cordovox accordion grill. You then connect one end of the standard MIDI cable to the adaptor box MIDI OUT and the other to the KEYBOARD MIDI IN of your MIDI real time arranger module. To power the adaptor box, you plug the 9-volt battery pack plug into the 9-volt out jack on the adaptor. The LED light will flash. Finally, you use the velcro patches provided to affix the battery to the adaptor or to a good spot on the accordion. When not in use, be sure to unplug the battery to preserve it. The adaptor only uses 20 mA of power, so a 9-volt battery lasts a long time.
Volume is controlled via a stereo pedal that usually comes with your arranger module of choice. So you play the MIDI sounds in a way similar to how you played the vintage Cordovox.
For technical specifications, I will include a special information sheet. I will send photos and instructions detailing how and where you solder one or two small wires to bridge the internal resistors so the MIDI sounds come through fully. This modification is necessary for all tube models of the Cordovox.
So, with your Cordovox accordion resistors by-passed per my directions sheet, your adaptor connected to the MIDI arranger of your choice, the MIDI arranger and internal mic(s) of your accordion connected to your amp or PA system, you will have a reliable and fine accordion MIDI system for the least cost, and you will be become a digital orchestra. I have performed more than 3000 gigs in a 6 year period with one Cordovox MIDI Adaptor Kit and an Orla XM-900 real time orchestra arranger module. I easily performed all maintenance using electronic contact spray cleaner from Radio Shack when a note would finally stutter in sound. (Note: I convert my chest plate from screws to velcro, so releasing the plate to access and spray the treble contacts is more quick and effortless. Use a plastic knife to release the velcro). Many other professional accordionists have used this microprocessor kit for their Cordovox accordions and MIDI arranger modules with totally reliable performance as well. There are no moving parts to wear out in the microprocessor adaptor box and we use standard MIDI cables! If you finally wreck a cable, simply get another from Radio Shack or me.
