Moody nude study 1923 by Marian Lewis 1878-1942 For Sale

Marian Latham was a professionalportrait photographer based in West London. Her career began around 1924 whenher first society portrait was published in the fashionable press. Shecontinued to be published until 1932. After her marriage to photographer HerbertWalter Lewis (b.1882) in 1903 when was living in Maida Vale, West London. Herstudio was located initially at 50 Queen Anne’s Gate, South Kensington and thenfrom 1939 in Westbourne Grove, Paddington. She exhibited at the RoyalPhotographic Society from 1927 to 1932. Her “Bacchante” was featured inPhotograms of the Year in 1926, and “The Niche” which was shown at the LondonSalon in 1932 was described as “the bestnude of the year” in the British Journal of Photography. Between 1939 and 1942Marian Lewis was in partnership with Doreen Gray at 108 Westbourne Grove, whereMarian’s daughter Ciceley (b.1905) was also listed as a photographer. She diedin Chelsea in 1942.
