Man\'s Dream; The Conquest of Space medal in lacquered bronze created by NASA artists Paul Calle and Joseph DiLorenzo.It weighs 5.3 ounces and measures 2 1/2 inches or 64mm. These medals were made by the Medallic Art Company of New York and published by the International Nummismatic Agency in 1971. Both sides are highly reflective with rainbow colors when tilted to the light. Lots of luster and flash!

The obverse portrays an anonymous Gemini astronaut on a spacewalk; tethered to the craft by his umbilical cable. Calle and DiLorenzo’s signatures are near his foot. On the outside, it says: THE CONQUEST OF SPACE.

The reverse depicts a scene from the Greek mythology of Icarus; his wings’ wax being melted by the Sun. It says: MAN’S DREAM.

The edge says: MEDALLIC ART CO. N.Y - BRONZE.
