Edmond PILON
1874-1945
Edmond Pilon Writer, poet Edmond Pilon (November 19, 1874 in Paris - January 20, 1945 in Paris)is a French writer.
BiographyEdmond Pilon is in turn a poet, literary critic, essayist and publisher. Its beginnings are marked by thesymbolist school.
From 1893, he collaborated with various magazines such as L\'Épreuve, Journal-Album d\'art founded by Maurice Dumont, L\'Ermitage (thanks to which he became friends with René Boylesve), La Vogue , La Revue bleue, La Revue blanche, La Plume where he wrote a regular column from 1900 to 1902, and finally La Nouvelle Revue française.
His first booklets of poems then appeared (Poèmes de mes Soirs, 1896; La Maison d\'Exilé, 1898). He is the author of the first critical work on Octave Mirbeau, and moreover, he later distinguished himself not without talent in literary portraiture, mixing biographical anecdotes and imaginary reconstruction. A prolific essayist, almost forgotten today, he worked in the 1920s on behalf of the publisher Henri Piazza.
We owe him a large number of editions of classics from the 17th and 18th centuries, two editions of the Memoirs of the Duke of Lauzun and studies on Chardin, Greuze and Watteau.
