In my estimation they date from around themid 18th century, but please make up your own mind about this.

The weights are made in the Nuremberg manner, which means that each weightweighs exactly the same as the rest of the weights which sit inside it.

Thus a matched pair of weights is always at hand.

This (when you think about it) is no mean engineering achievement for over 200 years ago!

The outer case measures approx1 3/4 inches (45mm) tall by 2 1/2 inches (65mm)in diameterand the weights aremade from turned bronze.
