Very Early, Fancy WWI or Earlier German Bayonet

DESCRIPTION:Original WWI or earlier German long bayonet. Scans show all. Blade is in excellent condition. Has the look of an 1870\'s French bayonet, and could also be from that period, for example made for use by the Germans during the Austro-Hungarian War.

Blade has manufacturer\'s information at the throat as shownin my closeup. Made by \"WEYERSBERG KIRSCHBAUM & CO., SOLINGEN\". Solingen is of course well known for its leading industrial capabilities, especially in production of edged weapons in Germany.

Woodengrips are in excellent condition, with no cracks. Appears to have some parallel \"notches\" like someone was keeping track of something. Spring works smoothly. Bayonet is in very good condition overall.

Thisbayonet could have been picked up as a souvenir after a battle. Either pickedup in no man\'s land or taken from a well armed German prisoner.

Bayonet is 20 1/4\" long overall, with a 15 1/2\" blade.
