EX RARE 1950s Juvenile SSS Old Timer\'s Antique Rolls Royce Tin FRICTION CAR LAMP For Sale

Extremely rare & working, 1950s vintage, made in Japan tin friction car that was factory transformed into a juvenile bedroom lamp has a still-functioning SSS International Cragstan Old Timer\'s Antique Rolls Royce S-1301 friction car mounted onto a black plastic platform lamp base with the original whip stitched fiberglass shade. The car was factory mounted onto the black plastic base using two slotted screws that fit perfectly into two connecting metal tab openings of the chassis, shown. The lamp was disassembled to photograph the base, which indicates no structural damage was done to the friction car\'s black chassis. As the black plastic base is two-line stamped ANTIQUE ROLLS ROYCE in gold paint, this validates that this car lamp to be a genuine production item, and not a do-it-yourself project created at home. As I haven\'t been able to find anything similar to this lamp on-line, it\'s also possible that this lamp is one of a kind. Re: condition, although the car is in fine unplayed with, WORKING condition, the tires are slightly flattened after years of having been securely attached to the black plastic base. There are areas of factory paint discoloration that was definitely done in the making. There is some age-related surface oxidation to both the curved lamp rod, and to some of the parts on the car. The whip stitching of the fiberglass shade is broken in two areas, one broken lace each to top & bottom hoops, shown, and needs new stitching. Although the original cord is somewhat stiff, the lamp is still safe to use. Other than these fairly minor condition issues, this a highly unusual vintage friction car lamp to add to your collection. A low wattage bulb is recommended to use with this lamp. The bulb used for demonstration purposes only is not included. More photos available upon request.
