Dynaco ST-70 power amplifier, outstanding For Sale

This amplifier has been completely rebuilt, although it was working fine previously. It has new ceramic sockets for the output tubes, a new J. J. Tesla Referral power supply electrolytic capacitor rated at higher voltage than original, most of the resistors in the audio path were replaced with low noise metal film or carbon filmandall tubes are included and test as new. The performance is just as new, each channel measures 18.9 voltsRMS without clippinginto 8 ohms or 44 .6 watts individually and with both channels driven 17.53 volts each or 38.4 watts. Harmonic distortion is 0.055%. The amplifier uses a GZ34/5AR4 rectifier from Mullard as original. The use of a tube rectifier allows the amplifier to warm up slowly with the rest of the tubes and keeps the B+ at the correct design voltage so that tubes and capacitors are not stressed.

Idle current adjustments are very stable and keep the amplifier working reliably, all the components of this adjustment system have also been renewed.

The chassis is in very good condition with just a few small spots of corrosion smaller than 1/8 in diameter. The bottom cover has some corrosion as you can see in the last picture. The output transformers are the preferred cloth covered type.

How does it sound? Fabulous. This amplifier is the original design but has a newer circuit board for reliability. In the past I have tried many of the various design changes or \"improvements\" but to my ears the original circuit design is very good and maybe the best.
