Doug Sneyd Signed Original Gag Rough Sketch Art ~ Playboy July 2001 Cartoon For Sale

From the July 2001 issue of Playboy (appearing on page 134), this original art features a preliminary pencil sketch rendered on vellum and measures approximately 8 1/2 by 11 inches. It is taped to a standard sheet of copy paper. Sneyd cut some of the original art from the piece and replaced it with other cropped original art. This is part of the artists creative process in making the final cartoon as it will ultimately appear in the magazine. Pieces pasted in include the face of the man and woman, the figure behind the woman, and a piece next to the mans right arm. Also shown, but not included in with the listing, is an image of the cartoon as it ultimately appeared in that issue. The listing is for the original sketch only.

Doug Sneyd began his career incommercial illustration before going freelance to work for a variety of book and magazine publishers. He also illustrated single-panel cartoons for theToronto Star, Canada's largest circulation newspaper (cartoons that were eventually syndicated throughout North America). In 1964, he began working for Playboyand hisgag strips have appeared in the magazine ever since. Throughout his career, he has contributed over 500 cartoons in all and became a favorite artist of Playboy readers.
