Nice Chilean Model 1890 cavalry trooper sword, manufactured in France at Chatellerault arms factory. “Manufacture d’armes de Chatellerault JH” is etched on spine. Chatellerault was the French state-owned weapon manufacturer in the town of Châtellerault. JH stands for Jacob Holtzer, who supplied the quality iron for the blade.

"Derue" style guard is in nice shape with multiple unit markings. Bakelite grip is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks. Ricasso bears Chilean coat of arms. T-section blade has uniform patina with light pitting/discoloration. Forte of blade has several nicks and chips on edge. Washer intact. All parts solid with no movement, including guard. Scabbard in very nice condition with unit marking on drag. Blade is very secure in scabbard.

The blade is 33.5" long, sword is 39.5" long and weighs 2 lbs 6 ozs.
