Case Vintage Rare 6151L Lockback For Sale

A very rare CASE 6151L from the 1905 to 1920 period. This is a big, banana shaped, lock back knife measuring 5 3/8\" closed, with a 3 3/4\" blade. After researching the blade length, and closely examining the tip, it appears that the tip was broken off and the blade reshaped as it is roughly 5/16th of an inch shorter than originally manufactured. Beyond that, it is in good shape, especially being around 100 years old! The blade has been sharpened but given that this model had a shallow blade to begin with, most of the steel remains. There is a very small chip missing from one of the bone handles and a quarter inch hairline crack in the other; otherwise, they show wear but are in very good condition. The blade has some light surface spotting but no deep pitting and will lend itself to a good polishing, as will the silver bolsters. The blade has snap, the lock release works perfectly and smoothly, and it has a little wobble when locked open -- but then, who wouldn\'t wobble if you\'re pushing a 100 years old! This is a nice piece for any collection or for someone who just wants to carry a rare and unique knife. A truly great old Case pre-XX. Thanks for looking.
