Beautiful Ornate Herring-Hall Marvin Co. Vault Door w/ Inner Double Locking Door For Sale

Up for offer is a beautiful vault door, built by Herring-Hall Marvin Co. in approx. 1896. This came out of the Jonesboro,IL courthouse a couple years ago when they tore down the old courthouse to make room for the new one (sacrilegein my opinion). Anyway they put on an addition in 1896 and that is when they ordered these vaults for the new wing. I say vaults as I have two of these units in case you want a matching pair. All the pictures were taken with it laying down as I don\'t have the ceiling height to stand them up safely. So it was hard to stand on a ladder and get adequate pictures of this vault. We do have the combination and once you open it you walk through to another double-set of doors that have a key lock and massive sliding bars that are lever operated and secure it. We unfortunately don\'t have the key for these, but I will try and see if they still have them(no promises). The vault unit measures 60-1/2\" wide at bottom by 104\" tall by 29-1/2\" deep. This ones frame surrounding vault door was repainted at some point the color black while the door is sort of an old-time olive green(not drab) with a warm gold trim.There are various scratches, paint chips, worn finish, nickel plating on handle is missing and dials nickel is worn, missing two acorns on hinge barrels (can be re-made by any machinist). The box connecting front vault door and the inner doors has surface rust. There are white plaster splotches on the box as well, from original installation. There are streaks on the front vault door that possibly can be removed by a professional, but we are leaving it this way. There are no cracks or repairs I have seen. The pin stripe on door is missing in spots. The inside door has not been inspected properly as we don\'t have a safe way to stand this up. What I can see when I look under is that lock is intact and if anything it would just have scratches.The whole unit weighs 1456 lbs. and the palletized dimensions would be approx. 120\" x 61\" x 38\" tall.With all that being said this unit is beautiful and will make someone quite the conversation piece as a safe room, gun vault, storm shelter, or just something to keep your treasures in. They don\'t come up often so don\'t let this get away. I will consider offers as long as they are reasonable. The second unit is all original and in better condition and with better condition it will be a higher price.Please ask any questions you might have.I prefer this to be picked up and I will load on your truck for free.
