$19995.00

Extraordinary Hall Of Fame multi signed baseball from the first ever Yankee Stadium Old Timer\'s Day in 1946.  The clean and creamy Official American League William Harridge sphere has trademark stampings that definitively date to 1946.  This ball is decorated with arguably the most well-rounded collection of baseball greats you’ll ever see on a single orb. Signatures include: Sweet Spot: Tris Speaker, Johnny Sturm and Red Ruffing ; North Panel: George Sisler, Duffy Lewis, Frank Baker , Roger Peckinpaugh, Babe Ruth  and Ray Schalk  South Panel: Earle Combs, Waite Hoyt , Wilcy Moore, Everett Scott, Aaron Ward, Lefty Grove , Joe Judge, Harry Hooper  and Mark Koenig; West Panel: Joe Dugan, Herb Pennock , Bob Meusel, Chief Bender , Red Rolfe, Cy Young , Ty Cobb and Mickey Cochrane ; East Panel: Jimmie Foxx , Chas Gehringer , Bob Shawkey, Jack Coombs, Jack Barry and Red Faber; Reverse Sweet Spot: Ed Walsh and Wally Pipp. Ruth’s presence and bold signature suggest that the keepsake originated in 1946. Later that year he began to complain of migraines and, after entering French Hospital in November, was diagnosed with a malignant tumor. He was admitted to the hospital and lost 80 pounds. By the following June, his pain was so bad that doctors altered Ruth’s medication (with moderate success under the guise of remission). Thus, it is unlikely Ruth would have attended the 1947 event. Ruth did attend a Yankee Stadium event in his honor on June 13, 1948. It was there that former teammates Dugan and Pipp (who are both on this ball) posed with Ruth, both putting their hands on the ailing legend’s shoulder. Ruth retreated to the clubhouse, where Dugan later appeared to hear Ruth say: “Joe, I’m gone. I’m gone, Joe” and both immediately began to cry. Again, the possibilities are multiple, but the flavor and names on this magnificent heirloom define our National Pastime to this day. Accompanying is a full photo LOA from JSA.
