Antique c1900 Red Work Quilt Hand Embroidery (cursive writing), Hand Quilting For Sale

Beautiful antique red work hand embroidered quilt.Dates from early 1900s, according to family. White cotton with dark red embroidery.Rare cursive writing!The theme is nursery rhymes and there are 20 of them in 9” blocks.

The quilt measures 63 x 71.The quilting is very nice with 8-9 spi (stitches per inch). The batting is thin, which was common with nice quilts with lots of quilting. It also makes it drape easily. There is a separate binding hand stitched. Binding has an 8” separation from the quilt at the top and is open at the fold. See close-up photos for a few spots.I have not repaired this as that can affect the dating of the quilt.Still, a very good vintage quilt.Collectible.
