Beautiful early-1800's woven jacquard coverlet in Indigo Blue, believed to be made in Long Island, NY, c. 1843.. Features a sprigs of flowers alternating with tulip buds with starburst corner grapes, and a grapevine border, both sides are woven with the owners name Melicent D Smith 1843. 'Most of the coverlets found on, or made on Long Island are blue (indigo dyed wool for the pattern)and white {Cotton or linen for the warp) most of them have the person’s name they were made for, the date, and some, have the place name or other information.'Measures approx 87" long x 94" wide and is in Excellent condition with only a few small holes, no tears with little to no wear or staining. A lovely piece of Americana! A fine addition to any home or collection!
