Antique Vintage Warranted Genuine Cowhide Leather Country Doctor\'s Bag Early 1900\'s
This terrific antique medical bag is well worn but super charming.It is marked on the bottom \"Warranted Genuine Cowhide\" on the bottom with the numbers \"18\" on the left and \"112\" on the right.The leather handle and brass clasps are in great condition for their age. To open, clasps lift and then you have to push on the center to release. Opens easily, but there is no key. Frame hinges hold the top open.The bag measures 18\" x 10\" at the base, and is approx 14\" tall when opened. Handle is 6\" at it\'s widest. Inside is leather and originally had 4 pockets. One side is starting to come unattached and is falling down, but no holes in the bottom of the pockets and it could easily be reattached. There is one small hole in the leather inside (please refer to pictures).I have not cleaned or applied anything to inside or out so I think it will clean up nicely if you so choose. Selling as is. Outside has areas of heavy wear or peeling.
Some history:Used as a satchel or weekender bag and has two hotel stickers both from \"Hotel Tampa Terrace\" in Tampa, FL.Check out this webpage to see a vintage postcard sent in 1951 depicting that famous hotel in front of the old Tampa courthouse. the bag, a safety pin holds an old tag with the previous owners name and address. I won\'t reveal that here, except to say it\'s marked \"New Haven, MI\", and the rest is yours if you buy the bag.
