From olden times, tsumugi (silk) has been a symbol of "good luck" because it is said to "spin threads from cotton, to connect, to link, to continue". If you display a Shiozawa Tsumugi Tiger Mokumegome Doll, it will bring you lots and lots of good fortune! It is said that this doll was first made in the Heian period (794-1185) by a priest of Kamogawa Shrine in Kyoto, who dug a trench in a rabbit tree and made a Mokumekomi doll out of Nishijin silk.
