Antique Lot of 2 German Grafenthal Carl Schneider Bisque Porcelain Spill Vases For Sale

Good Condition. The female figure has loss to her gold trim. She has no chips, cracks or crazing. The male figure has a hold behind his left elbow where apparently a leaf broke off at some point. The leaf down at the bottom right by his ankle also appears to be broken off. It has a rough edge. He also has gold trim loss. These figurines are 143 years old and as you can see by my pictures, they are still very beautiful in spite of the noted issues. I can't believe they have survived mostly intact! Please carefully examine my extensive pictures for the details!
The two figurines have the Carl Schneider mark impressed into their bottoms along with a number "10888" and there are red crayon numbers written on the back of each figurine. The mark is difficult to see on the figurines but under my 60x loupe I could see the Schneider mark and research indicated these were made between 1879 to 1888.
Each of the two figurines measures 8 1/16 inches or 20.48 cm at its tallest point.
The female figurine measures 3 7/16 inches or 8.731 cm side to side at its widest point.
The male figurine measures 3 7/8 inches or 9.842 cm side to side at its widest point.
The female figurine measures 1 15/16 inches or 4.921 cm front to back at its widest point.
The maie figurine measures 1 7/8 inches or 4.763 cm front to back at its widest point.
These figurines are made of bisque porcelain. They are highly detailed, even on their unpainted backs, a hallmark of Carl Schneider's company's pottery pieces of the era. They are spill vases, which means they were made to sit on the fireplace mantle and hold tapers for transferring fire to candles and cigars, that sort of thing. These are true historical artifacts! And very beautiful ones at that!
