These remarkable, hard paste porcelain musicians/beggars resonate with all the charm and character that Derby porcelain has become renowned for throughout the centuries. The hand-painted details on this young trio remain vibrant and virtually unscathed by the passage of time. Each boy is depicted with his own personality and instrument. My favorite piece is the drummer that is modelled as a whimsical child with a wide, joyous smile and torn shoe. The musicians each don lavish, black hats decorated with feathers. This 19th Century set will make a stunning addition to your Derby collection.
Each musician stands on a stylized, pedestal base with pastel and 22 karat gilt embellishments.
