This item is a 1946 Philco AM radio. It is restored, working, cleaned (needs more.)
The chassis is model 46-420. This says it was released in 1946.
The brown bakelite cabinet is p/n 10629B. This cabinet got named \"hippo.\" I don\'t know why.This cabinet was used for multiple years as the chassis was upgraded.The cabinet has a 2\" crack on the top. It is a cosmetic defect only. Maybe it could be filled in with epoxy or something.This radio is working. I replaced the filter capacitors and a leaky coupling capacitor.
I replaced the burned out pilot light with a brighter LED pilot light.The line cord is getting stiff and brittle in some areas and ought to be replaced.I cleaned many years of tobacco tar off the radio. There\'s still some left.
