1893 Chicago World\'s Fair Paper Napkin Chinese Tea Room Souvenir Pochoir RARE For Sale

Here\'s a World\'s Fair souvenir you\'re unlikely to see again! Offering a paper napkin from the Chinese Tea Room at the 1893 Chicago World\'s Fair. It looks to be hand-painted in some parts and hand-printed in others; possibly a pochoir. Very classic American design paying homage to Christopher Columbus\'s 1492 voyage in one corner, the World\'s Fair buildings in two others, and the American Eagle with shield and \"E Pluribus Unum\" motto in the last. There are also medallions at four points around the edges, and these include globes saying \"New World\" and \"Old World,\" a red cross, and a medallion honoring Chicago with a sheaf of wheat. Between is elaborate scrollwork. At one edge, you can see a couple different sections of Chinese characters.
Being thin paper and nearly 130 years old, this does have some wear. As you can see, there is age-related toning and foxing throughout with some soiling at the edges and a handful of tiny holes along the fold lines. The corners are creased but complete. Overall, the color, clarity, and completeness of this fragile souvenir is pretty impressive for its age. Measures about 15 1/2\" x 14 1/2\".
