Here\'s your chance to get a seldom seen model Schoenhut doll - a little boy with carved hair. He is a 16\" model # 203. The designer is Leslie/Graziano.He is a cute smiling boy with 6 slightly carved and painted teeth. He has round blue intaglio eyes. He was made from November 1911 to 1916. He has deep comb marks in his hair and as you can see in the photos, he has little curls at the nape of his neck. He has a dimple in each cheek in his molding. He has UNpainted stocking grooves which means he is an earlier doll. The first dolls had a nail in the back of their upper thigh above where the knee bends and the stockings had a grommet in it in the back to attach to the nail to hold up the stocking. It is believed that the nail must have scratched some children and parents informed the Schoenhut Company, so the company changed to carved stocking grooves in the legs after that. The carving of the stocking grooves was done before the doll was painted, but since they had stock that had already been painted, some of the dolls had their stocking grooves cut after they were painted resulting in the stocking grooves being UNpainted. This is the case with this earlier doll. He has large ears typical of Schoenhut dolls. I believe that he is a factory repaint judging from his facial appearance and after blacklighting him, I found that he only has a few recent touch ups to his face. The majority of it is original factory paint and factory repaint. Carol Corson stated to me that factory repaints on these dolls are valid and do not diminish the value of the doll at all. His body has not been repainted. He has a crack in the wood on his left shin and his left ankle is slightly separated from his foot, but both are stable and do not cause any problem with posing him. He was in this condition when I purchased him a number of years ago and the condition of it has not changed at all. He also has a small part of a nail sticking out of his leg by his left knee, and as you can see in the photo, I pushed a small piece of cork onto it so it wouldn\'t scratch me and also to protect clothing when put on the doll. All these things are stable and he poses extremely well and all his joints are tight. I am sending him off in the outfit he came to me in. It is a dark blue wool suit (jacket and pants) and black stockings and I added the silk ribbon for his tie. Sorry, no shoes or union suit. The outfit is a bit big on him, but it will do until you find something else or if you are handy, you can alter the outfit to fit him better. Overall, he is a wonderful doll and I really hate to part with him, but I must at this time. I have loved him for all the years I\'ve had him and I know you will, too. He\'s a smiling and happy boy and would be a wonderful addition to your collection.
