VERY RARE EARLY WOODHEAD & HARTLEY SHEFFIELD BOWIE KNIFE 7 LAMBERT STREET: $18000.00
Very rare Woodhead and Hartley Sheffield Bowie knife. They were know to work out of 7 Lambert street for only a few years. A large sale house sold the Robert Berryman/Chas.Shreiner III Bowie Knife Collection saleon March 23rd, 1992 and in the description it was noted, “that thisearly address for Woodhead and Hartley and that only three other examples withthis address are known” Another example of it rarity is the full alligator on the pommel, see pics, much more common was the alligator horse motif. The knife measures 12-3/8" overall and the blade is 8-1/8" long. The guard has some place but the blade is tight. The blade has been polished and will exhibit normal pitting. There are two small nicks on the edge of blade about 2" from guard and one small nick about 5/8" from tip. They are not really noticeable with naked eye but easily seen under magnification. The scabbard fits well but has no markings and the tip is missing. Cannot say for sure the scabbard is original to the knife. The ricasso is marked Woodhead & Hartley, 7 Lambert Street, Sheffield and on the blade it is marked, American Hunting Knife. The pommel is German silver and grips are brass. Please email any questions before offerding. Will only ship to the USA.
