revised 01-06-24This is a repair service for the 1970\'s Mattel record players. These same players were used in theInstant Replay, Talking Baseball &Football Game, Winnie the Pooh Chatterbox, and Preschool Talking Pictures Schoolhouse recordplayers.

These Mattel toy record players fail because of the motors are old and no longer responding. The rubber drive belts become too dried and stiff to play. If they do play, they play too fast because these were made in the day of older, weaker batteries. Todays batteries have more current and spin the records too fast. As part of the rebuild, the players are fine tuned with custom resistors to play at the correct speed.
These problems can be repaired with a new drive belt, motor and fine tuned to play at the correct voice speed.The players are carefully opened up with a thin razor saw. The parts are cleaned from years of dust collection.The motor and belt are replaced and the needles are sharpened if needed.
I don\'t recommend using Duracell \"D\" batteries. These batteries have a smaller negative flat side that barely touches the small (-) battery top contact inside. This can lead to the player working and then not working as you handle the player and the battery slightly rocks from side to side. This area difference can be seen in the last picture. The \"D\" size batteries with larger areas are Ray-O-Vac, Energizer, Home Depot HDX. I\'m sure there are others that will work as long as the flat negative goes to the battery\'s edge.
The shipping time is set to 40 days. That gives us plenty of time for the player to be shipped in by you, arrive and inspected, then repaired and shipped back. As soon as the player arrives, the rebuild starts in a day or 2 after that.
