This is an authentic major league baseball that has been hand signed and inscribed with “84 NL R.O.Y.” by Dwight “Doc” Gooden. He played in the MLB as a pitcher for 16 seasons, debuting with the New York Mets from 1984-1994, and playing with five other teams from 1984-2000. Gooden is a four-time All-Star, the NL Rookie of the Year in 1984, a Triple Crown and NL Cy Young award winner in 1985, a two-time MLB Strikeout Leader, an MLB ERA Leader and MLB Wins Leader in 1985, a Silver Slugger in 1992 and pitched a No-Hitter on May 14, 1996. He also won three World Series rings with two different teams, those being the New York Mets in 1986 and the New York Yankees in 1996 and 2000. He was nicknamed by the Mets as \"Dr. K\", in reference to the letter \"K\" being the standard abbreviation for strikeout, which soon became shortened to \"Doc\". Gooden retired in 2001 and was inducted into the New York Mets Hall of Fame, and the Baseball Hall of Fame, both in 2010. Autograph obtained in person at a public signing by the seller. The ball is signed with a blue ballpoint pen and comes with a certificate of authenticity and numbered hologram from Jim and Steve’s Sportscard Shop.
