Chuck Harmon (1924-2019) served in the Navy during WW II, and while attending Toledo University, played briefly in the summer of 1947 for the Negro League Indianapolis Clowns under the alias of "Charlie Fine" to preserve his collegiate eligibilty. Signed by the Cincinnati Redlegs (Reds), he was the 1st African-American player to play for the Reds. He was a right-handed hitting utility infielder for parts of 4 seasons for the Reds (1954-1956), Cardinals (1956-1957), and Phillies (1957), hitting .238 in 289 games, with 7 HRs, and 59 RBIs. Harmon later scouted for the Indians & Braves, and in 1995, was inducted into the Indiana Sports HOF.
