Hooked this up to my kit built SDR and it for sure met the +30 dB spec. It looks a little fragile, but I have not busted it yet or zapped it with static. Second thing I had to do was buy a broadcast band station notch filter because there is a 5kW commercial station near me. There is a good one online for a reasonable price. This is a great little amplifier. Oh, this was with a 9V battery.

The MMIC comes from HP. All is said... A usefull trick with this MMIC is the opportunity to reduce its gain by reducing its current. To do so, simply insert a resistor in the dc line. The gain may vary from 32 to 15dB this way. I use mine in an ARA-2000 clone antenna (see Google).

Works very well increasing readability of low RF signals for frequency counters. I’ve got a HP 8443A TG and counter and it was having trouble reading over 25MHz from one item, in fact it just plain stopped. Powered this up to 10v and instantly it would read over that point. I’ve since built a brass sheet case around it and works A1.

Connect your antenna cable to the input side and connect the output to the radio's antenna input connector. Add a 0-12 volt adjustable power supply and you have a variable pre-amp for your receiver. Adds 5 to 8 S-units at 12 volts. Noise level increase with pre-amp at full gain is negligible. Works great!

Perfect little device for amplifying AF and RF signals. As antenna amp and also as amp/buffer for a dig frequency counter. Great value
