I just started this kit and I have to say that for a long-running, laser cut kit, it ain't all that well done. I haven't even started on the actual boat hull yet and I'm already finding significant issues with the accuracy of the planking mold and the horses that support it. It seems like the wood sheets weren't firmly held down during the cutting process or something. The symmetry of one of the bulkheads was WAY off and the center section profile doesn't match the plans very well at all. I expected MUCH more accuracy (quality) from this manufacturer - especially considering the original retail price of this kit and how long it's been in production! I wonder if this is why they offer it at the big discount? Maybe clearing out a bad run of these kits? If I had paid MSRP for it, I would have returned it for refund because of the fitment/accuracy issues. Not recommended for a beginner, nor will I be buying another kit from this manufacturer. Update: Now that I'm well into construction of the kit, I've found that most of the other components are adequately accurate. The mold horses and the one mold-bulkhead must have been the only major flukes in the kit, at least I haven't found any others yet. One other issue is the pictures in the instruction book. They appear to have been produced on a black and white copier and they ain't that great. IMO, this kit still isn't worth the manufacturer's stated MSRP. The discounted price is still pretty high for what you get, but acceptable. I added another star to reflect my findings.Read full review

The seller made sure the kit was complete, and even included the book! That was an unexpected surprise. This will end up in the Sag Harbor Historical Society's whaleboat shop as an example of how the boats looked. Thanks so much!
