Buy this Dr used, expect to pay more but got away for $550.00.Most of them price used around $900.00-$1000.00 , i guess i am the lucky one. Solid top back&side is rosewood laminated.Put new set of martin lifespan .011-.052 80/20 bronze and vintage bone saddle on.Sound very good ,It of couse can not beat my d-42 madagasca custom or d-42 solid highly flamed hawaiian koa .But when you take it with you on the trip, And will not have a heart attack if something happen to it. But you still have a very beutiful sound good enough to enjoy on the road. Well worse the money no matter buy used or new.Don't be stupid like me to spent a lot of money on this very great guitars, and have to babysit it forever and not truly can enjoy it but only at home. Unless you have a ton of money , then get what you want, and enjoy the heck out of it. Good luck....SSRead full review
The Martin DR is a true work of fine craftmanship and understated beauty. The matte finish solid spruce top with rosewood back and sides is strikingly attractive without being flambouyant or flashy. And while it is beautiful to behold, it is even more beautiful to hear. The tone is warm and resonant on the bass notes and crisp and bright in the treble range. Playability is easy right out of the box. This guitar, while not inexpensive, is certainly a great investment for anyone interested in playing either for enjoyment or professionally. Most people make the mistake of buying a cheap guitar to learn on. Cheap guitars are generally harder to play due to the high action and do not sound as nice. This leads new players to quit before they really get started. Spending a few extra dollars for a quality guitar is not only more enjoyable but is a better investment in the long run because you will grow into the guitar rather than having to grow out of it and buy a new one later on. Learning guitar takes commitment. If you are not commited enough at the outset to spend a little more for a quality instrument then the chances are you won't have the commitment necessary to persevere through the challenges of learning this instrument. You will not find a better balance of quality and value in a guitar anywhere, and unless you want to learn a genre that requires a classical or electric guitar, this is the last guitar you will likely ever have to buy.Read full review
I bought this guitar in a used music store recently. I played around 10 midrange priced acoustic and by far this guitar sounded the best. It has a warm full sound and didnt have that tinny sound. I am completely in love with this guitar. Only complaint is there are no pickups in this guitar so you cant plug into an amp or pa. I am however just a hobby guitarist and just enjoy playing at home so its perfrct for what I was looking for
This is a very nice 2000 Martin DR guitar in great shape. It has a beautiful sound.
