The pinholes are too small to accept average size strings. I had to buy a reaming tool to enlarge them. I have not received the tool, yet so I cannot comment on the tone of the guitar with upgraded strings. However, the stock strings, certainly, did the guitar no justice, which is the reason for changing out the strings, in the first place. I will say that the guitar has a beautiful look and finish to it and I display it, proudly, along side my other 15 guitars. I received the reaming tool and restrung the unit with new Martin Marquis Silk and Steel Strings. This made a world of difference., both acoustically and electrically.

Guitar is decent for what I paid for it. The nut, saddle and bridge pins are plastic and give it a nice sound but it's kind of dead. The edges of the frets are sharp and could probably hurt your hands if your really working up and down neck. The stings cut into plastic saddle. I replaced saddle and bridge pins with Tusq and the guitar sounds really sweet. The frets will be filed next. All In all I'm satisfied but I didn't pay retail and would not for this guitar.

Plays and sounds great love Ibanez guitars because of the strings are great because the strings are so close to the frets makes it easy to play....HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
