While certainly this is a quality product, sold by a good manufacturer, the price is a little high. The product produces absolutely no soot or smell what so ever. Used in a house this is most probably the best product and worth the money. After all it is less expensive then most products on the market. However, for my use on my sailboat I can tolerate a little smell with the less expensive products. I would however highly recommend this product!
